About Me/ Purpose |
Dear reader,
My name is Jesse Wang and I'm a student at Emory University. I am currently enrolled in Dr. Suhr-Sytsma's Living Multilingualism course. On this website, I explore the nuances and connections between racial prejudice in America and language, and the resulting hierarchy of languages and cultures. As an Asian-American, I have experienced firsthand the effects of misperceptions based on how the manner in which people speak, relative to their cultural background. Through my research, I aim to gain a clear and comprehensive understanding of linguistic prejudice, as well as propose novel solutions to alleviate such discrimination. To view my personal blog and experiences, click the button above! To view my group website that discusses attitudes toward dialects in an international context, click here!
Best,
Jesse Wang
